New Art!

So my new piece is dedicated to my little sister, Katy who just had her 17th birthday! I have wanted to for the longest time do animes of family and friends I know, but never did mostly because I want to show off their characters and personality perfectly.

This was a 3 day piece. I started by sketching in pencil, then inked it. I scanned the picture into Photoshop (which I love using!!!) and edited, added other parts (like the volleyball, my signature, and her name). You'll notice that the original does not have her right hand finished. That is because I caught my mistake while inking the picture. I originally was going to have her with a basketball, but remembered that she now plays volleyball, so I had to draw her fingers in after scanning the pic in.

I enjoyed this project and I think I'll try to do more friends and family inspired work. Below you'll see the original ink & paper piece and the final Photoshop version.

Enjoy!

New Art

Hey all! It's been a few hours since my update. I just finished my new drawing. Check it:

The story behind this character; I recently joined my husband and his friends in playing D&D. Never played before in my life, mostly because I thought it was for celibate guys who would never get any....ah hem...(Gamer D)... But I have to admit, my first time playing I found it very fun. So here is the character I created. Meet Valynn, my elf healer.

Now, I have a question for veteren D&D gamers: Why do you only play late at night??? Is there a reason or unspoken law that daylight is evil? ...What is it because the light will make you pasty-white skin sparkle?

Any-whose.... Here is my first picture for this blog. Enjoy!

Project Underway

I am busy at work on a new drawing. I work as a Teacher's Aid at an elementary school and sometimes I find down time to sketch on the back of my schedule. So, the other day I scanned some of those sketches on my computer and now working on a couple.

I must admit that I find drawing so calming and relaxing. I usually put in about 4-5 hours on just one drawing. Below are some of my past artwork from the last couple years.

Greetings and Salutaions!

Welcome all to Take the Stage Blog! Where this blog title may imply that it will be primarily theater related, let me reassure you this blog is for many things. Blogs here will mainly deal with my artwork. There will of course be the occasional theater related blog, as well as reviews on any game, movie, book, or whatever that catches my attention.

Don't worry about me posting any boring personal stuff like, "hmm, bored now...what to do? lol" or "omg, like I am having a bad day! :(" No. That's dumb. This is strictly for what I hope to be interesting stuff. By the way, check out my brother-in-law, Gamer D, as I'm sure you will find a bit more entertaining in writing style. I designed his blog banner and logo.

Here's to a good start!
